Arturo Luíz Soria is an Obie Award winning actor and writer with Brazilian, Ecuadorian, Italian, and Dominican roots. His solo show, Ni Mi Madre, premiered at Rattlestick Theater and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award, Outer Circle Critics Award, a Drama League Award, and won the Obie Award for Best Performance. He was commissioned by Rattlestick Theater with the support of an NYSCA grant to write a follow up solo show called, Sin Padre.

 

Arturo made his Broadway acting debut in The Inheritance (Tony Award for Best Play) and was also seen off-Broadway in the World Premiere of Wet Brain (Playwrights Horizons) and the World Premiere of Hit the Wall (Barrow Street Theatre)— which Hilton Als of The New Yorker compared his portrayal of the fast-talking-hip-swishing-sharp-tongued Tano to a young Al Pacino. He’s been trying to live up to that ever since, coño!

 

His TV works includes Insatiable (Netflix), The Blacklist (CBS), East New York (CBS), and Found (NBC). He is currently writing a feature film with Black Bar Mitzvah Productions and Votiv Films.

 

Arturo holds an MFA from Yale School of Drama; a BFA from The Theatre School at DePaul University; and was part of the inaugural class of TV writers in Lena Waithe's Hillman Grad Mentorship Program.
